A Migraine is a form of headache. However its nature is such that it can disrupt an individuals daily routine until it subsides.  The pain is usually throbbing, pulsating, and bursting.  Sometimes it affects one side of the head and for others it affects the whole head. It can bring extreme sensitivity to light and a severe migraine can cause nausea and vomiting.  Some people find it difficult to continue with their daily routine and have to sleep to clear the migraine.  For some people the migraine can linger for a few a days. If the migraines are frequent they can disrupt a person daily routine and make it difficult to focus on work.

Many people manage their migraines with allopathic medicines such as painkillers and migraines are just a part of their life. However in homeopathy we aim to identify the cause of the migraine rather than just treating the symptoms. In my experience the main causes of a migraine are stress, eating habits, digestive disorders, and sinusitis. Other causes can be  hypoglycaemia, sleep disorders, cervical spondylitis, flashing lights, loud noises, change in temperature, blood pressure, eye strain etc. By identifying and treating these causes will provide individuals with long term relief from migraines.

After a detailed history of the patient a homeopathic medicine is selected which is specific for them.  By treating the actual cause of the migraine it is possible to allow individuals to be free from migraines.
